Region 870 has adopted a No Referee Game Cancellation Policy.  

If no referee signs up to officiate a game, the game will be cancelled.  This is unfortunate but necessary to ensure that the kids can get the opportunity to participate in a true match.  This also helps ensure a Safe and Fair environment for all participants.  

The Referee sign-up will be sent out several times during the week prior to game day.   The coaching staff will also receive these emails so that they are aware of the status of their game throughout the week, and to encourage their parents that have registered to referee to sign up sooner than later.

The last 2 emails will be sent out first thing Friday then again around noon.   Referee sign-ups will CLOSE at 7 pm Friday. After this time, games will be officially cancelled. This will allow coaches and team parents to notify their teams.

Cancellation of a game means that the teams should not show up to the field and the field is closed to the game, scrimmaging, or practice.

As the season progresses we hope that referees will assist each other, "I can referee for your game if you can referee for ours".  In making this a viable possibility we are working on a referee directory that we can share between the referee crew.
