Who may register?
Any child who will be 4 years old by 9/1 to age 18 may register for the Region 870 season. Our Core Program does not have tryouts and welcomes both new and experienced soccer players.
Are players placed on teams in the order in which they register?
No - Fall registrations are to form new teams. Team formation is conducted by the Registrar and Region Board in June. The Region's team formation committee makes every effort to balance teams based on statistics from the previous year. In accordance with AYSO's principle "Everyone Plays" we ensure that all registered players by the end of registration period are placed on a team. If you are placed on a waiting list after June, your child will be placed on a team in the order in which they registered until all teams are full.
Can I register late?
Please contact Barbara Anderson at [email protected] to see if there are any openings.
I registered online. Now what?
Once you register online and complete the payment process, your child is registered! You will be contacted at the beginning of August with Orientation dates and times.
How are teams formed?
AYSO philosophies call for Balanced Teams, and this is the number one priority during team formation. Teams are formed so that they have an equal number of new and experienced players, and so that ages are balanced. After team balance is ensured, the board tries to match players by geographic location and/or school where possible.
What are the age divisions?
Region 870 follows national guidelines for our age divisions. Please see our "Birth Year Chart" under the Registration tab for further information. Region 870 has separate divisions for Girls and Boys (whenever possible) and a coed division for 19U. The region may combine divisions and/or genders as player numbers dictate.
I want to be placed on a team with a friend. Is this possible?
Carpool requests may be considered but cannot be guaranteed. Coach/buddy requests will not be accepted or considered. Retention of players on any team shall be limited to the head coach's child(ren). Once teams are formed, no transfer of any player from one team to another may be made without the approval of the Regional Commissioner.
What does the registration fee cover?
The registration fee covers the complete Fall and Spring seasons (14 games total). The fee pays for the player's AYSO registration/insurance fee ($25.00 non-refundable insurance fee paid to National is required), plus a uniform consisting of jersey, shorts, and socks. Players keep their uniforms. Other Region expenses include field painting and maintenance, field rental, game equipment, volunteer training, coach equipment, referee uniforms, and publicity. A complete budget is available to any member upon request. All AYSO coaches, referees, board members, and other helpers are volunteers. AYSO is a non-profit organization.
When and where are games played?
Traditionally AYSO Region 870 games have been played on Saturdays at Timber-Linn Park in Albany, Denver Fields at Cheadle Lake in Lebanon, and Central Linn in Halsey. Interplay games (15U and 19U will have multiple different locations based on interplay options - Adams Elementary School in Corvallis, Keizer, Newport, Lincoln City and Florence). Games usually run between 9:00am and 5:00pm. Alternate times and locations will be considered if field capacity is exceeded.
